WWE Payback Match Preview: Fatal Four Way WWE Title

It is amazing how Wrestling goes in full circle. A year ago, six men were battling it out to see who the most dominant faction of all time. Now at this Sunday’s Payback PPV event from Baltiamore; four of those six men will collide in the main event for the WWE World Heavyweight title.

A year ago, WWE was heading into an extremely late Extreme Rules event. The trio known as the Shield got under Triple H’s nose; allowing The Game to reunite the Evolution that brought us Randy Orton and Batista in the mid naughties. In a cracking match, Roman Reigns shockingly pinned Batista, allowing The Shield to beat Evolution. The next month (June 2014), the stakes were raised at Payback; this time a six man elimination tag match. The Shield continued their dominating run by picking up a clean sweep.

The following night on Raw Blue-tista quit, however Triple H had a plan B. That plan; Seth Rollins who turned his back on his Shield brothers. The Architect of the Shield quickly rose to the top of the WWE, cashing in his Money In The Bank contract at Wrestlemania.

For Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, they also went in separate directions. Ambrose immediately after Seth Rollins whilst Roman sought after Authority member Randy Orton. Ambrose headlined both the Hell In A Cell PPV against Seth Rollins and the TLC PPV. Roman Reigns picked up his biggest victory the Royal Rumble, winning the event punching his ticket at Wrestlemania 31 against Brock Lesnar.

Seth Rollins in the meantime, continued to be a pain in the backside. Tension brewed between him and Randy Orton, resulting in Seth Rollins doing what was best for business; eliminating Orton out of action for 3 months. Orton and Rollins faced off at Wrestlemania, with Orton picking up the victory with a stunning RKO.

After Rollins cashed in, costing Reigns title match at Wrestlemania, Rollins and Orton continued their rivalary at Extreme Rules inside a steel cage. Whilst Reigns waited for his rematch.

The following night on Raw, the WWE Universe decided that Seth Rollins will face both Roman Reigns and Randy Orton for the WWE title. As tensions grew between Kane and Rollins, he allowed Dean Ambrose his shot at the title. With Ambrose pinning the champion, making it a fatal four way for the title.

Fans have wanted to see the trio of the Shield battle it out for so long. Now at WWE Payback they will get that chance. The odds are certainly stacked against Rollins. With Kanes job on the line, we can only help but wonder; how will Seth Rollins retain the title.

Several rumours have past in the past few weeks that The Shield maybe reuniting; with either Dean Ambrose or Roman Reigns joining forces with The Authority. The other option is for Randy Orton to bow to pressure from Kane. Other than NXT Fatal Four Way, we haven’t seen a main event like this since 2010. All four men are ready, let them fight and deliver an incredible match.
