SummerSlam 1999

An Out of Body Experience

| Date: August 22 1999 | Venue: Target Center| City: Minneapolis, Minnesota | Attendance: 17,370

Backstage, Stone Cold Steve Austin was not particularly happy dropping the WWE title. WWE creative came up with various options however the RattleSnake out right refused pretty much anyone in the locker room. One idea was to have the 9th Wonder Of The World Chyna win the belt from Austin. This plan came into fruition and even announced as SummerSlam 1999 main event. Those plans quickly changed, with Triple H being added to the spot. Unkeen on Triple H winning the gold, Mankind was slotted into the match instead.

The following night on Raw, Triple H challenged the new WWE Champion Mankind and won his first of many WWE Championships. However the hot potato affect would continue; the Game lost the title to Vince McMahon, who held it up. Only for The Game to win the title back at Unforgiven 1999.
