Over The Edge 1999 will forever be remembered not for the in ring action but for the tragedy that befall the audience in Kansas City. Prior to his Intercontinental Championship match with the Godfather, Owen Hart’s safety harness snapped as he was being lowered to the ring. Known as the Blue Blazer, Hart was preparing to do an in ring stunt that went horribly wrong. The moment was luckily missed by a live PPV audience who were watching a video package of Owen Hart. Immediately treated by EMT’s, Owen was rushed to hospital and announced an hour later that his life was cut short. WWE made the bold decision to continue the show against many of the wrestlers wills. This is noticeable in the quality of the match.
