Latest on Shane McMahon Status

As reported earlier, Shane McMahon has being hospitalised in a New York medical facility. This has ultimately thrown his WrestleMania 34 status in the air, and a question mark over his scheduled match. This has now lead too a number of questions over Shane McMahon status heading to New Orleans. Will he be able to participate, and who will his replacement be? A recent article from Sports Illustrated has suggested that Shane could be out of the match completely.

An un-credited article has suggested that a potential replacement could be in the form of Chris Jericho. Jericho is a long-term WWE veteran, but has being seen very little since SmackDown Live in May last year. He was taken out of action by Kevin Owens after losing the WWE United States Championship. Therefore, his partnering with Daniel Bryan would make sense as he has unfinished business with Kevin Owens. But whether this will remain to be the case is uncertain. WWE and booking logic are not two common bedfellows – they usually repel one another. It would have being assumed that things would have become clearer on SmackDown Live, but the WWE decided on an alternative approach.

But from a cynical perspective, there is a question mark over why the WWE have gone down the path of Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon. These two had an infamous feud at the end of last year. This culminated in a match inside Hell in a Cell. That should have being the end of it, as what they have being portraying diminishes the impact of the match.

Again, WWE and booking logic don’t work well with one another. There is just less than two weeks until WrestleMania, and a clear path needs to be established. This is where the WWE need to work their magic and think about the bigger picture.
