Latest on Sting vs The Undertaker
In terms of dream matches which have never happened, Sting vs The Undertaker is definitely up there. Granted, an un-televised match occurred between the two in the very early 1990s. But since both men made their names, it has not. Around this time of the year, it always begins to circulate whether The Undertaker will make it to WrestleMania. The Undertaker hasn’t been seen since his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. Sting on the other hand hasn’t been seen since WrestleMania 32 following his Hall of Fame Induction and retirement. He hasn’t competed since Night of Champions 2015. On that night, he suffered a neck injury in a losing effort to Seth Rollins.
He later quietly retired due to the injury sustained on the night. Could a comeback have being possible, yes. There was always a massive question mark over the condition of his neck. But the man himself has revealed that the opportunity has long passed, as reported by Sports Illustrated. If even the match was a slight possibility, you have to bear in mind Sting is 58 right now. The Undertaker is currently 52. The average age for the match is 50. Whilst this match would have being a must-see, what would the long-term gain from this match be. If Sting were to wrestle, it would definitely be a one-shot deal. And The Undertaker’s WWE status always has a massive question mark over it. Therefore, this should be one of those left wanting.
If anything, the WWE could tease a showdown between the pair to make the fans want it even more. Make them want even more without delivering the goods. From a fan perspective, it would be great to see Sting back on WWE TV once again. As a character, the possibilities are endless and something which could be maximized.
