Latest on Daniel Bryan WWE Status

Daniel Bryan WWE Status is always a little confusing. Surprisingly, it has being nearly two years since Daniel Bryan was forced to retire from in-ring competition. He infamously retired to much fanfare in February 2016. This followed a near two year battle with injury. Since then, he has gone onto reign as the WWE SmackDown Live General Manager. Forming a firm approach, he and Shane McMahon have driven SmackDown Live from strength to strength. However, very much a fan favourite his actions at Clash of Champions left some scratching their heads.

Daniel was the cause of a controversial finish, following several clashes with Shane McMahon. He then performed a shocking fast three-count to allow Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn the victory. This has lead to much speculation of what the plans for Daniel Bryan really are. Is this now going to lead to an on-screen rivalry with Shane McMahon? Given the events of SmackDown Live this week, anything could be on the cards. However, Daniel Bryan recently spoke to Sports Illustrated concerning his WWE Status. Here is what he had to say:

I assume that if I don’t wrestle by WrestleMania, I probably won’t be wrestling with WWE at all. That’s my assumption. It’s not a black and white answer. There are a lot of issues with me getting cleared by WWE. They have a very strict protocol, which is a good thing, but the timeline of all that happening was not the best for me. It’s an interesting situation that will develop.

Whether he will inevitably be cleared by the WWE remains to be seen. Given the stance they have taken in the past with his medical issues, it seems highly unlikely. But the potential from Daniel Bryan versus Shane McMahon could be interesting.
