VERY EARLY WrestleMania 33 Predictions

It was only five months ago we were celebrating the biggest WrestleMania in history from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. But now, the WWE is a very different place as we begin the run into the New Era. We now have two definitive brands, RAW and SmackDown. The leaders of RAW are Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley (watch this space). The leaders of SmackDown are Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan. But with things beginning to settle down following the Brand Split, what could we possible expect from each brand heading into WrestleMania 33 from the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida? Here is the WDD VERY EARLY WrestleMania 33 Predictions…

WWE Universal Championship: Seth Rollins vs. Triple H

Unfortunately, I cannot see Kevin Owens remaining as the WWE Universal Champion for a long period of time. In all honesty, the most logical person to take the championship from him at the moment is Seth Rollins. There isn’t anyone else on the roster who is really ready for that position at the moment. And whilst Triple H in the main event is not something that should happen (for a multitude of reasons), they have already laid the foundation for their feud. It has being building for a long time, and showcasing it at WrestleMania 33 seems the logical solution.

WWE World Championship: AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler

Now, this match would be absolutely incredible. AJ is continuing to build his momentum following his defeats over John Cena. The next logical step is for him to be the champion. And the path that Dolph Ziggler is going down is certainly an interesting one. He is quite possibly being built for something, and again the most logical solution is for the WWE World Championship. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the most realistic and opportunistic way for it to be achieved is by having Ziggler win the Royal Rumble. This would then allow him to have that “WrestleMania Moment” in a match which would definitely put bums in seats.

John Cena vs. The Undertaker

Let’s face it, Vince McMahon has wanted to see this match again for years and in all honesty it hasn’t happened on a proper scale in over a decade. Cena has certainly come a long way since the days of Vengeance 2003, and Taker’s best years are behind him. If this match is to happen, then it should really happen sooner rather than later. The longer we wait, the worse it will be. Taker’s in-ring capability has drastically deteriorated in the last few years, and now is the time if we are going to get some half respectable out of him. How it would quite come together is another story, but is definitely one that could be interesting to watch.

Brock Lesnar vs. Shane McMahon

Well, this feud has being teased massively already. Brock has taken out Shane, and his sister Stephanie has “dealt” with the situation. But for Shane, this is certainly far from done. An earlier confrontation between Brock and a representative of Shane is likely, probably around Royal Rumble. But if this feud is to be done and exploited properly to its maximum potential, then these two need to face off against one another. A straight forward match between the pair is definitely not something to go for, the style of match, who knows but WrestleMania is the best place to exploit this.

WWE Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

This is certainly a match which is slowly going to be built on the RAW roster. These two have an illustrious history together within NXT, and the fact Bayley was initially bought to the WWE at Battleground by Sasha. In the interim period of Sasha being injured, Bayley was bought in to fill the void. Now Sasha is back, Bayley is out of the spotlight. This could certainly cause some resentment the pair further down the line and lead to an incredible match between the pair. Done correctly, this could be one of the most anticipated female matches in recent memory.

Other Opportunities

  • Sami Zayn is certainly one of the most promising prospects on the RAW Roster, but he has not had an easy time of it. He needs a fantastic money grabbing opportunity to propel him to the next level – winner of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
  • A multi-man ladder match for either the WWE United States or Intercontinental Championship. This has become something of a tradition for WrestleMania unfortunately, but with the right participants can be something spectacular.
  • Not a match, but expect some form of interaction between Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair. The Camping World Stadium marks the place where Ric Flair’s final WWE match took place. Surely they will commemorate this in some way.

Whilst this is very early days, here is some of the VERY EARLY WDD WrestleMania 33 Predictions. It will certainly be interesting to see what path they take this down in the coming months, but if any of this happens – remember where you saw it first! Don’t forget to come back again in coming weeks as we progress with the next round of WrestleMania 33 Predictions!
