WWE SmackDown Results 16th August 2016

The go-home show for the Blue Brand before SummerSlam 2016. With a very RAW heavy card, will we see anymore matches confirmed for the Blue Brand? And following the events of last weeks SmackDown, what is next for the rivalry between Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose in their battle over the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? Also, following her wardrobe malfunction last week, will we finally see Eva Marie make her in-ring debut on SmackDown Live? This weeks edition of SmackDown Live comes from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. Here is this weeks WWE SmackDown Results 16th August 2016…

— The show opened with Randy Orton signing his SummerSlam contract backstage for a match with  Brock Lesnar. Heath Slater then showed up with a fruit basket for Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan. Orton says he has an idea (goodness knows).

— Miz TV is in the ring with Miz and Maryse. Their special guests for this evenings show, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler. They jawed at each other and Ziggler left Ambrose laying with a sucker-punch superkick.

— During the commercial, Apollo Crews was trolled into coming out by Miz, who left him laying.

1. The Usos, American Alpha and Hype Bros defeated The Vaudevillains, The Ascension and Breezango. This was a match to showcase the SmackDown tag team division. American Alpha picked up the win for their team with the Grand Amplitude.

2. Naomi vs. Eva Marie ended in a no contest. Naomi had a new entrance and look. Eva Marie’s narrator then announced that Eva Marie would be unable to compete, due to traffic.

3. Heath Slater defeated Randy Orton via Disqualification. Orton refused to stop beating up Slater and heed the referee’s instructions, so the referee disqualified him. Orton continued the attack after the bell and hit a barricade-hung DDT on the floor, followed by a pair of German suplexes and an RKO back in the ring.

— Backstage, Heath Slater was offered a contract by Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan, but they threw it away when Slater was too loopy to think straight.

4. Dean Ambrose defeated Erick Rowan. Rowan and Wyatt stared down Randy Orton as they made their entrance and he departed. Ambrose won his match with Dirty Deeds. After the match, Bray Wyatt turned his back on Erick Rowan and left him in the ring.

5. Becky Lynch and Carmella defeated Natalya and Alexa Bliss. During a double-knockdown spot, Eva Marie finally arrived and made her grand entrance. Naomi appeared and chased her, distracting Natalya long enough for Becky Lynch to slap the Disarmer on her.

6. John Cena defeated Alberto Del Rio. AJ Styles was on commentary for this match. Cena won with an Attitude Adjustment. After the match, Styles got in the ring and attacked Cena, saying Cena’s time is up. Cena then hit Styles with an Attitude Adjustment, then hit another Attitude Adjustment off the ring steps, putting Styles through the announce table.

What do you think about what happened this week on SmackDown Live? We’d love to know what you think!
