WWE SmackDown Preview 9th August 2016

This past week on RAW, things between Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton continued to heat up even further ahead of their forthcoming match at SummerSlam. The bad blood between the duo is boiling, so what is happening next for both men? The Show Off, Dolph Ziggler is on his way to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. But will the hostility between Dolph and Dean continue to build in the coming weeks? What else can we expect from the Blue Brand with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan at the helm – and will the RAW General Manager Mick Foley continue to heighten the tension with Bryan? This weeks edition of SmackDown comes from the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California. Here is this weeks WWE SmackDown Results 9th August 2016…

– The show opened with Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan making their way to the ring. Bray says SmackDown is his show now, before Dean Ambrose interrupts. As Dean is about to get in the ring, Dolph Ziggler comes out. A brawl erupts and Ziggler accidentally hits Ambrose with a superkick.

— Backstage, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan interrupt Ziggler and Ambrose. They put them in a tag team match against Wyatt and Rowan tonight.

1. American Alpha defeated Mikey O’Shea and Mike Vega. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan were set to take on local talent when The Ascension, The Vaudevillains and the Hype Bros all came to ringside to watch. American Alpha won in short order with Grand Amplitude. After the match, the other three teams surrounded the ring, then all four teams brawled, with Jordan and Gable being the last two standing.

2. Becky Lynch NC Eva Marie. The match was set to start, but Eva Marie suffered a wardrobe malfunction and the bout was unable to take place. Becky Lynch was livid after the match was waved off and challenged anyone in the back to come forward and fight her. Alexa Bliss answered the challenge.

3. Alexa Bliss defeated Becky Lynch. Lynch was about to win when Eva Marie’s introduction happened again, distracting Becky. Bliss hit the chokeslam and Twisted Bliss for the win.

4. Randy Orton defeated Alberto Del Rio via Disqualification. After a lengthy match, the fight spilled to the outside and Del Rio hit Orton on his surgically-repaired arm with a chair, drawing the disqualification. Del Rio tried to continue the attack, but got hit with an RKO.

5. Rhyno defeated Heath Slater. A SmackDown contract was on the line for Slater. Slater argued with the referee and got hit by the Gore.

— Backstage, Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon were prepared to offer Slater a contract anyway. Heath showed up, chewed them out and stormed off before they could get a word in.

6. Carmella defeated Natalya.

— Baron Corbin beat up Kalisto backstage for costing him a shot at the Intercontinental Championship.

7. Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose defeated Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan. It took a while for Ambrose and Ziggler to get on the same page. Ziggler hit Rowan with a superkick for the win. After the match, Ambrose hit Ziggler with the Dirty Deeds.
