Backstage Fight at SummerSlam 2016
The main event at SummerSlam this year between Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton was completely brutal. The elbows from Brock Lesnar to Randy Orton were horrendous, which caused Orton to legitimately bleed quite badly. However, it has emerged that a WWE locker room veteran has taken extreme exception to the finish of the match. The main, Y2J Chris Jericho.
According to multiple sources, Jericho was backstage after the match asking longtime WWE Agent Michael Hayes whether that was the planned finish to the match. When Jericho failed to receive an answer from Hayes, his response was “bullsh*t”. After the conclusion to the matches aftermath, Jericho was apparently within the Gorilla Position for Lesnar to return to the locker room. Brock then reportedly heard what Jericho said about the finish to the match. Feeling like Jericho was scrutinizing his match, Brock reportedly called him a “pu**y”.
This reportedly lead to the two bumping heads with one another. With Lesnar reportedly up against the wall, he implied to Jericho to punch or kiss him. At this point, they were separated by Vince McMahon and Triple H. Vince reportedly told Jericho to ease off and be more professional, whereas Triple stood up for Y2J – he was just standing up for himself. Following on from this, Orton is said to have spoken with Jericho about the situation and informed that he was fully aware of what he was getting himself into.
Whether or not this backstage altercation between the pair is fact or fiction. There are two prominent facts which remain from this. The finish to this match was quite possibly one of the most effective finishers to a PPV in the past year (hard to deliberate given the match with Taker last October) but secondly it made Brock look like an unstoppable beast. He is truly a force to be reckoned with in the WWE at this moment in time and who his next victim is remains to be seen.
