WWE Summerslam 2016 Match Card – 2 Title Matches Added

from WWE.com

On August 21st, WWE will present it’s first pay per view event of the draft split era. Summerslam 2016 will take place from the Barclays Card Arena for the second year in a row and will be an historic evening. Prior to UFC 200, WWE announced Summerslams first match; a “first” time clash between the Beast Brock Lesnar and the Viper Randy Orton. Their only televised match was back in September 2002.

Following the aftermath of Dean Ambrose making the WWE Championship a Smackdown exclusive. WWE Raw needed to react; and that they did. Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley announced a new Raw exclusive world champion will be crowned as the WWE Universal Championship. Seth Rollins was announced as the number one contender for the championship. However at Summerslam, Seth Rollins would challenge the winner of a quick tournament on Raw. Two  fatal four way matches were used to determine two men to face Seth at Summerslam. Debuting Finn Balor would win the first match and face Roman Reigns; to much suprise Balor would also beat Roman Reigns to face Seth Rollins at Summerslam. The winner would become the first WWE Universal Champion.

On the blue brand, Smackdown Live kicked off with a mini celebration of Dean Ambroses success. During this, Shane McMahon decided a six pack challenge would be used to find out the number one contender. Five men were announced; John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Bray Wyat, Baron Corbin and AJ Styles. A six man was determined by a battle royal, which Apollo Crewes one. In Smackdown’s first main event Dolph Ziggler pinned AJ Styles with a superkick to become number one contender.
