This past Monday, John Cena celebrated 14 years since his WWE debut against Kurt Angle. For the ebst part of 12 years John Cena has been on top off WWE. Given the “New Era” of WWE, things are changing, with plenty of young hungry talent to take the company forward. What does John Cena think about this shift in momentum? During a recent interview with the Sports Inquirer, John Cena discussed the position WWE is in, Enzo and Big Cass and whether Roman Reigns is his next dream match.
“Often times, we as a company look at one superstar to come pave the way. For the first time since I would say along my debut, when you had names like Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, John Cena, Dave Batista, Shelton Benjamin all at the same time, now we have such a plethora of gifted young talents and there’s no end in sight,”
Naturally, Roman Reigns has been groomed to be in a similar position to John Cena. Despite all the troubles of recent, John Cena believes that Reigns is a natural dream match. What his views on John Cena facing Roman Reigns?
“I know that I always kind of test myself, whether it’s new superstars or established superstars, and I know Roman Reigns has carved up quite a niche for himself and he has all the attributes to be a successful WWE superstar for some time to come…I’ve heard he’s good. I’d like to find out how good he is.”
Two recent debuts on the main roster Enzo Amore and Big Cass has recieved plenty of attention. The fans love their personilty. Interestingly John Cena compares Enzo’s mic work to his 2003 rapper gimmick:
“I look like Enzo Amore and Big Cass only because they are so immediately identifiable as characters. It kind of reminds me when I was doing hip-hop piece of my persona. I like that because Enzo is not necessarily a typical mold of, ‘Hey, this is going to be awesome.’ But even back in his early days in NXT, he caught my attention.”
