Roman Reigns Suspended

Roman Reigns Suspended for 30 Days. Reigns lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship this past Sunday at Money in the Bank. Placed into the triple threat main event for  in July on the Monday and come the Tuesday, he has being suspended for 30 days. The reason; a violation of the WWE Wellness Program, as confirmed by Following the announcement of his suspension, Mr Anoa’i took to his Twitter account to discuss the news;

Obviously, given how Roman in the recent months has being pushed as the face of the company having secured a championship win over Triple H, retained it in two battles against AJ Styles before losing it to Seth Rollins. But this certainly explains why the championship was taken off him in quite a surprising move. In all seriousness, it was expected that he would still be champion following his match with Seth but this obviously explains the precarious situation the WWE found themselves in.

How this alters the course of the triple threat main event for Battleground has yet to be seen. There is a possibility that this could see himself removed from the match bringing it down to a Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose match instead. It does mean at the moment, Roman WILL NOT be on television for the Brand Split. How the WWE plans to accommodate this going forward in their product within in coming weeks could certainly be interesting given his heavy presence in recent months.

Could this be a highly embarrassing for the WWE at this moment in time. Given the efforts they have gone to in recent years to clean up their image following the death of Eddie Guerrero in 2005, which ultimately established the Wellness Program. This is certainly not a good time to be Roman Reigns at the moment…

Update: Reports suggest that WWE knew about Roman’s suspension prior to Money In The Bank – Full Details here
