Jerry Lawler Suspended Indefinitely!
It has emerged that WWE Hall of Famer and SmackDown commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler has being indefinitelty suspended from the WWE following a domestic incident at his jome in Memphis, Tennessee which resulted in his arrest. Police were reportedly called to his property at approximately 1 am on the morning of Friday 17/06/2016 following reports of a confrontation between Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, as reported by FOX News.
McBride says that Lawler hit her in the head, before shoving her against a stove before grabbing an unloaded handgun and telling her to commit suicide. However, the other side to the story reports states Lawler has told the police that McBride scratched him in the face, fire a candle in his direction before kicking him between the legs. Lawler is also reportedly telling officials that it was McBride who pulled out the pistol whilst being heavily intoxicated. They have both since being arrested for domestic violence.
This has ultimately resulted in Lawler being suspended by his employer of nearly 20-years who operate a strict zero tolerance on matters such as this. They have since released the following statement on the matter;
“MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jerry Lawler was arrested at his home Friday morning by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Memphis, Tenn.
According to a police report, Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, were taken into custody and booked on alleged charges of domestic assault—bodily harm, a misdemeanor.
WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.” WWE.com
An indefinite suspension is certainly not a good thing, and with it being early days it remains to be seen how this situation will play out for not just the real-life situation Lawler is in, but how his absence will be explained at Money in the Bank and SmackDown in the coming days. As and when more information becomes clear, we shall of course bring you an update on this developing situation.
On a positive note, we won;’t have to listen to Lawler’s dreary commentary soon…
