Twice-Monthly WWE Brand Split PPV Events?

Twice-Monthly WWE Brand Split PPV Events?

It has recently being reported by that when the long rumored, now confirmed brand split comes into fruition in the WWE this July, that the WWE will begin airing twice-monthly PPV events. One event will be for the RAW brand and the other will be for the SmackDown brand. The only exceptions to this will be the ones regarded as “The Big Four” – aka Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series. This has reportedly comes from the mouth of WWE SmackDown commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler, who revealed this at the 38th Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois.

Should this be true, then this will see a massive 20 PPV events being produced by the WWE every year. That, in all seriousness is a ridiculously high number and when the WWE Creative team struggle to cater for 12 PPV events a year then how will they cope with catering for 20 PPV events. We recently discussed some of the things we shouldn’t see in the upcoming brand split, and one of the things we discussed back then was the idea of split brand PPV events. Whilst I am not completely against the idea, in the initial outset the brands will be on a mission to establish new stars and will therefore need time to identify themselves as their own brand. By having joint PPV events for a specified amount of time, it allows the WWE to play it safe for a while to test the waters with the audience.

Having solo PPV events every month, this will ultimately be an overkill and has the potential to limit the brand possibilities very quickly when it should be fresh and unique. There was some hope that WWE would learn from their past mistakes, but it doesn’t look like that is going to be the case unfortunately…

What do you think about the idea of Twice-Monthly WWE Brand Split PPV Events? Is it a good idea or do you agree with us that this would be an overkill…we would love to know what you think!
