OSR: WWE Money in the Bank 2014 Review

In the OSR, we go back just two years to when the Money in the Bank event took a new twist. In previous years, two matches, two championship opportunities. This year, it was two matches, one championship opportunity and one championship belt. The WWE championship was vacant as a consequence of injury, and ahead of SummerSlam a new champion was required. Despite being only two years ago, the recollection of this event is awful so this allows me to go into this with completely fresh perspective and bring you the WWE Money in the Bank 2014 Review…

The opening promo looks about the climbing the ranks in the WWE to achieve the top level of stardom, with it being step by step. It then looks at the injury sustained to Daniel Bryan thus making the requirement for a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion before looking at the MITB match, and its participants but more importantly how the struggle for them all will remain the same. We then go inside the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts with our commentators for the evening, JBL, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler for this evenings event as we quickly head up to the ring for the first match of the evening.

WWE Tag Team Championship: The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) (c) vs. The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Erick Rowan)

Both teams make their way to the ring, as the history package shown the singles matches between the duos which have being established to bring them here together this evening. The match gets underway with The Uso’s attempting to gain the control, but they are unable to overcome the power and force of Harper and Rowan in the opening moments. This allows them to have the momentum throughout the match but ultimately the double teaming duo of The Usos’s eventually allows them to pick up the win and retain the championship in an average opening match.

Winners: The Usos, to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship

Match Rating: 2.0 out of 5.0 Stars

WWE Diva’s Championship: Paige (c) vs. Naomi (w/ Cameron)

Naomi makes her way to the ring first, as the video clip shows a victory for Naomi over Paige on Main Event a few weeks previously. Paige then makes her own way to the ring, but both women receive pretty much no reaction. The match gets underway with Naomi showing some great ring presence and aerial ability, The main story in this match seems to be the hostility building between Cameron and Naomi, the later of which shows great dominance until a possible botch attempt at a top rope suplex sees them fall to the outside of the ring. Paige is eventually able to pick up the win in an average match but they don’t seem to share much chemistry in the ring as Cameron celebrates at ringside because of the outcome.

Winner: Paige, to retain the WWE Diva’s Championship

Match Rating: 2.0 out of 5.0 Stars
