Christian Gone from WWE?
Captain Charisma, one of the defining superstars of the WWE Attitude Era and former multi-time champion in the WWE including World, Intercontinental and European Championships, Jason Reso better known as Christian has being inactive with the company as an active competitor since March 2014. It was at that time when he suffered a concussion in a Fatal 4 Way match on RAW when he became the number one contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. This ultimately never came to fruition. Now, it has emerged that following two years of being on the sideline, WWE have released Christian from his contract as an active performer.
Whilst some may be disappointed, Reso has quietly retired from in-ring competition during this time due to the accumulation of injuries over the years and himself has conceded that he is highly unlikely to wrestle again. But this doesn’t necessarily mean he is gone from the WWE altogether. He will still be a part of the WWE as part of the show he and Edge star in on the WWE Network, “The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness” which doesn’t rule out part-time appearances on RAW or SmackDown in the near future for the continuation of The Peep Show.
Jason Reso made his WWE Debut at the end of 1998 at Breakdown: In Your House as Christian aligning himself as part of The Brood alongside Edge and Gangrel. He soon went onto capture his first WWE title when he became the WWE Light Heavyweight Champion. He and Edge then went onto have tremendous tag team success throughout late 1999 and 2000 capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship multiple times whilst pioneering the TLC matches alongside The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz at SummerSlam 2000 and WrestleMania X-Seven. In 2001, he and Edge split which lead to a singles career for Christian for the next few years where he captured multiple individual championship reigns. He late became acclaimed for a promo he cut with Vince McMahon in April 2005, which received him much praise and prominence.
He late left the WWE in October 2005, and re-emerged in TNA where he became known as Christian Cage. He went onto have feuds with the likes of Jeff Jarrett, Sting and Kurt Angle to name but a few whilst capturing the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He stayed with TNA for just over 3 years before ultimately returning to the WWE in 2009 emerging in their ECW Brand and quickly became the ECW Champion. At Extreme Rules 2011, he went onto defeat Alberto Del Rio to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. A fine wrestler, personality and person, WDD would like to wish Christian all the very best for the future and look forward to the next episode of The Edge and Christian Show.
