In a day where (as of writing) six WWE superstars have been released, Wade Barrett too to Twitter to announce that he will be released from his WWE contract several weeks early. Rumours of Wade Barrett handing in his notice surfaced earlier this year. Wade responded to the rumours that he will comment when the time is right.
Putting this in a nice way, Wade Barrett deserved so much better success in WWE that what he got. A serious of injuries, green card issues and just plain bad luck ultimately held up and halted any major push to the main event. Back in 2010, Wade Barrett led the impressive Nexus faction which stormed WWE in the Summer of 2010. Main event feuds with John Cena and Randy Orton delivered great potential for the Preston born lad.
Multiple Intercontinental Championship reigns and a King Of The Ring, still is the sign of a successful WWE career. Just like Drew Galloway (McIntyre) last year, this departure saddens me. Wade made the British fans proud, I will never forgot the reaction he got when he challenged John Cena in London back in April 2015. Wade adapted his character brilliantly, poking fun out of everyone as Bad News Barrett, whilst staying true to his English roots.
Wade, which ever career path you take next, us here at Wrestling Dirty Deeds wish you all the best.
Below is the note that Stu posted on his Twitter account short while ago.
After almost 9 years, today saw my final day with WWE. I made a decision back in August last year no to re-sign once my current contract expired in June 2016, and i’ve now reached an agreement with management to fdissolve the contract a few weeks early.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, especially the guys I’ve shared a ring & locker room with. I will miss them tremendously.
As planned, I am now taking a well-earned break from the wrestling industry in oder to expand my horizons, but I’ll be back in the ring when the time is right.
Thanks for the support everyone, I’ll see you all down the road.
