Backstage News On Possible Summerslam Match Plans

from WWE.com

Summerslam is WWE’s second biggest show of the year. A second story building point in the year after WrestleMania. This years SummerSlam 2016 rumors are slowly building up with various talks of possible matches are surfacing. We have backstage details on two huge main event matches that could take place at SummerSlam 2016.

The first key one is concerning the inevitable return of Brock Lesnar. We have not seen The Beast since his dominant victory over Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 32. Naturally Lesnar will have a big role in the Summers big event.

It looks like WWE are reverting back to their original WrestleMania plans with Lesnar. These stem from attack The Wyatt Family at January’s Royal Rumble event. Sadly nothing happened from a story perspective other than Luke Harper taking on Brock at Roadblock. For possible injury reasons Bray’s planned match against Lesnar was call off. Instead going with Dean Ambrose. Reports are suggesting that Bray Wyatt will face Brock Lesnar at SunmerSlam. A match which does look very promising.

Other plans being talked about backstage involved the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. With his return to WWE at the end of May, plans suggest that John Cena will face the World champion Roman Reigns. Naturally a match between WWE’s two chosen men is a big deal backstage in WWE. However, I feel that this match is too soon. Keep the two “biggest”draws away from each other. Even tease it by teaming together but do not rush Reigns vs Cena. Take your time, this is a must see match and save it for the right moment. Batista and John Cena took 6 years to finally collide. This made the match much more important, two huge stars on a very similar path however never crossed until 2008. Sure, today is different and 8 years is far too long, but keep them away. A match at WrestleMania would make more sense. If the match happens at SummerSlam brilliant, given Reigns current reaction with the crowd a match with Cena will ever make or break him.

Never-the-less, SummerSlam in recent years have been based around huge matches. SummerSlam 2016 looks like no exception.

What are your thoughts on Bray Wyatt vs Brock Lesnar and John Cena vs Roman Reigns. Do these matches excite you? What would be your ideal card?
