WWE Brand Split Returning Confirmed

Amid months of speculation, including a possible theory that the Brand Split would be making a return at Payback to satisfy the presence of both Shane and Stephanie McMahon, it has now being officially confirmed by WWE.com that the brand split will be making its return to the WWE Television as of Tuesday 19th July. This will also mark a notable shift for the SmackDown show, as it will move to Tuesday nights (vice Thursday as currently) and be broadcast live every week on the USA Network. A brief statement from WWE Chairman Mr McMahon outlined;

“WWE’s flagship programs will both leverage the incredible depth of our talent roster, distinct storylines and the unpredictable nature of live TV. This move will undoubtedly build more excitement and deepen engagement with our fans around the world.” – WWE.com

This is certainly a genuine and positive move forward by the WWE, because it will definitely give them the opportunity to elevate various superstars who have previously gone unnoticed. Other than the date and the feature of distinct rosters, very little is known  about what both RAW and SmackDown will feature each week at this present time. Details will more than likely become more apparent in the coming weeks ahead of the Brand Split. There are numerous possibilities to consider, what championships go where, which superstars go where, will the split PPV’s return (hopefully not), will we have general managers for each show?

Only time will be able to tell as the details become more apparent. But there is one hopeful and crucial thing which can be taken away from this, SmackDown has the definitive potential to become a more bearable and watchable show than the current series of tripe spouted out each week. This is certainly an interesting and exciting time for the members of the WWE Roster and WWE Universe.
