WWE Extreme Rules 2016 Predictions

This weekend sees WWE Extreme Rules take place from the Purdential Center in Newark, New Jersey. With the chemistry between Roman Reigns and AJ Styles nearly at breaking point and the first ever Asylum Match between Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose under the WWE umbrella set to take place, here at WDD we took the time to sit down and predict what will actually occur…

Pre-Show: No Disqualification Match – Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

Following on from Ziggler’s massive upset victory at Payback, these two will once again face off but this time in a No Disqualification match on the pre show.

Lucas : Why is this been relegated to the Preshow again? Feel sorry for Ziggler and Corbin. Surely Corbin wins this?

Dave: Ah, Dolph Ziggler…king of the pre-show. Surely he is set to lose this match in dramatic fashion unless the interest in Corbin is already gone.

WWE Tag Team Championship: The New Day (c) vs. The VaudeVillians

Lucas: I really can’t see WWE dropping the tag titles from The New Day, as they are leagues ahead of everyone. However them losing the belts would be a welcome wake up call for the remainder of the tag team division.

Dave: The New Day have risen to be one of the most popular tag teams in the WWE, and I cannot see another team currently in the position of suceeding them in their position. Plus, as much as I like The VaudeVillains gimmick it does ultimately have a shelf life.

WWE Women’s Champion: Submission Match – Charlotte (c) vs. Natalya

Lucas: Charlotte has owned the Women’s division since she debuted, and interestingly this will be her 11th straight WWE PPV – a record she now owns for the division. It makes so much sense for her to win and face Sasha at SummerSlam.

Dave: Whilst I do think it makes the most logical sense for Charlotte to walk out the champion, I really do want to see Natalya have her moment because she truly does deserve it. She has done so well in this feud, that she truly deserves her moment of glory.

Tornado Tag Match: The Club vs. The Usos

Lucas: I am a firm believer that less is more, sadly the WWE have pushed these two tag teams in so many matches of late that the appeal is lost for me. Tornado Tag rules suit The Club over The Usos, and ultimately expect them to dominate. Easy prediction here, The Club will win.

Dave: The Club have being on an absolute roll since they made their debut, but to continue their rise they really need a decisive and dominant victory. Plus, I am not a fan of The Usos so easy prediction to see The Club win in a brutal fashion.

Asylum Match: Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose

Lucas: I like how the WWE have mixed up the standard cage match. I hope that this match is a show stealer and gives Ambrose the momentum he needs to move to the main event. Ambrose surely must win.

Dave: Despite the slight blooper on his record for WrestleMania 32, 2016 has really proven to be Dean Ambrose’s year thus far. He continues to go from strength to strength that he really must win this match, and bring Y2J’s current run to an end in decisive fashion.

WWE United States Championship: Kalisto (c) vs. Rusev

Lucas:I keep forgetting that Kalisto is champion. With Rusev back in the hunt he will easily win setting up a match between him and Cena. Sadly Rusev will be a transistional champion.

Dave: This is probably the easiest prediction for me out of everything. Whilst he started of promising, Kalisto’s reign as champion is probably one of the most forgettable in history. Rusev needs to get the title, and help take it back to the prominence it had in 2015 with his feud with John Cena.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Fatal-Four-Way Match: The Miz (c) vs. Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn

Lucas: I do like how two feuds became intertwined, very clever. The Miz has been brilliant as champion thus far. His three challengers are arguably future main event performers. As much as I would like Sami Zayn to win, a title retain from The Miz is the sensible route.

Dave: Maryse has added so much to the character of The Miz since she returned that whilst I would love to see Cesaro or Zayn walk out with the title, the logical and sensible route for this is for The Miz to retain.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Extreme Rules – Roman Reigns (c) vs AJ Styles

Lucas:  Wow no one expected the chemistry that these guys had at Payback. False finishes mixed within the New Era of Shane and Stephanie didn’t hold back on a classic match. I expect this to be a superb Extreme Rules natch with Reigns being the victor.

Dave: If their match from Extreme Rules is anything to go from, the potential from this match is off the rector scale. I don’t expect this match to be an easy one for either man, and the chemistry to continually test the fans. Logically, going forward Reigns is likely to retain.

What do you think of our predictions for WWE Extreme Rules, are we right in what we are saying or are we completely off the mark. Who do you think will be victorious…we’d love to know what you think!
