OSR: WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Review

Has it really been four years since Brock Lesnar returned? Extreme Rules 2012 our next joint Old School Review takes place from the All State Arena in Chicago. The main event sees a returning Brock Lesnar take on John Cena in an Extreme Rules match. I remember the main event of this show but everything else is shakey. This will be good fun to watch.

Extreme Rules 2012 Review

Falls Count Anywhere – Randy Orton vs Kane

Following Kane picking up the win at WrestleMania, Orton and Kane battled all over the All State Arena. Taking the fight through the crowd and backstage. In the locker room area Zack Ryder attacks Kane. Randy Orton survives a Chokeslam and reverses a tombstone, to pick up the win using the RKO.

Lucas: A really enjoyable opening match for Extreme Rules. Both Kane and Orton were on fire. Zack Ryder getting revenge on Kane worked well. Wasn’t expecting Otorn getting the win.

People power!!!! Johnny and Eve are backstage talking about his first PPV in charge. As annoying as Johnny was he was good fun to watch.

Brodus Clay vs Dolph Ziggler

Believe it or not Brodus Clay makes his PPV debut against Dolph Zigger. Brodus Clay beats Dolph Ziggler in a very quick match.

Lucas: Great… Dolph is on jobber duty as he faces Brodus Clay in the Funkasuarus PPV debut. I had forgotten about Dolph and Swaggers alliance. Pretty much a wasteful match. Interesting the fans are already ripping on Brodus character.

Intercontinental Championship Tables Match
Big Show (c) vs Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes faces Big Show in a match determined by the spin of the wheel. Cody isn’t pleased with the tables match. Naturally Big Show walks around confidentially throwing Cody round most of the match. A table is set up ringside. Just as the Big Show is about to step into the ring, he apparently accidentally slips of the edge of the ring putting his foot through the table for Cody to regain the championship. An angry Big Show attacks the new Intercontinental Champion putting him through two tables.

Lucas: A fairly short match due to the unexpected ending. The ending of the match is pure genius, whether it was deliberate or not we can never tell. Thankfully Cody gets to continue his great run as Intercontinental Champion.
