WWE title changes don’t happen often however when they do it is a special moment. However when they happen on an untelevised show it’s a rare incredible moment. Last night at a NXT Live show in Lowell, MA, Samoa Joe defeated Finn Balor to win the NXT Championship.
Finn Balor won the NXT title at WWE Beast in the East, WWE Network special live in Tokoyo back on July 4th 2015. Samoa Joe has unsuccessfully challenged Finn for the NXT title over several occasions the past 5 months. Headlining the last two NXT Takeover events with Balor. Joe’s title victory came out of nowhere; given the fact several weeks of TV tapings have taken place.
Obviously WWE could switch the title back at upcoming NXT events; though this fuels the rumours of Finn Balor moving the main roster. Finn is more than ready to move to the main roster, to mix up with the likes of Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose as well as NXT graduates Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
With the main event of Payback seeing AJ Styles challenging for Roman Reigns WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the timing seems very planned. Two weeks ago saw the debut of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, last week the duo attacked Roman Reigns. AJ Styles denied any involvement despite their friendship. Could Finn Balor be behind the attacks?
Rumors backstage suggest that Finn Balor would debut as a heel, alongside the Bullet Club. Quickly being involved in the main event. Everything makes sense for the title switch. Naturally this is pure speculation, something only time can reveal.
