Konnor & Adam Rose Suspended
WWE.com have revealed today that superstars Adam Rose and Konnor of the Ascension have violated the WWE wellness policy for the second time and have both received a 60 day suspension for both men starting immediately. As of writing, no word or indication has been revealed by WWE, or either star to why the suspension happened.
The Wellness Policy was introduced by WWE as a reaction to the untimely death of Eddie Guerrero. Despite being clean for over 4 years, Eddie’s history of alcohol and drug abuse took its toll and his life. A three strike rule was implemented for all WWE Superstars and personnel. These rules were strengthened in 2007 following Chris Benoit’s horrific death to himself and family.
Over the years, several key superstars have failed the policy which invoked suspensions. Randy Orton, Ken Kennedy, Rey Mysterio, Jack Swagger, William Regal being high profile superstars to have failed the tests and suspensions imposed on them. In some circumstances halted major storylines.
WWE need to take a strong stance on drug abuse, not just illegal pleasure drugs but prescribed drugs as well. With the high level of youthly deaths in professional wrestling, WWE were obligated to take action. Despite several young deaths since it’s introduction, the impact has been very positive. The number of deaths in professional wrestling have reduced. Direct head shots have thus been banned from a WWE ring, whilst concussions have been taken incredibly seriously. Christian and Daniel Bryan suffered severe concussions in their career which ultimately cost them their in ring careers.
For Konnor, his hasn’t got too much to lose. Whilst the Ascension have participated in the tag team tournament, they have barely remained relevant since the introduction to the main roster late 2014. Adam Rose on the other hand has alot to lose. A second birth along side the Social Outcasts have revitalised his career. This suspension will have not done his career any favours.
