Latest WWE Fastlane 2016 Card

As we learnt this past week from Monday Night RAW, there are now officially five matches confirmed for this Sunday’s Fastlane 2016 event, with four taking place on the main show and one on the pre-show. Out of the five matches, there are three championship matches announced as well as a tag team match and a triple threat match. The matches thus far announced for the event are;

Triple Threat Match for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match at WrestleMania 32

Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns

Pre-Show: WWE United States Championship

Kalisto (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio

WWE Intercontinental Championship

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

WWE Diva’s Championship

Charlotte (c) vs. Brie Bella

Diva’s Tag Team Match

Naomi and Tamina vs. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch

Given how the WWE Intercontinental Championship is no longer around the waste of Dean Ambrose, but now under the ownership of Kevin Owens…this is obviously a development to be keeping note of as Owens will be defending the championship against Dolph Ziggler this Sunday. In all honesty, given the hostilities between Stephanie and Dean Ambrose in the past few weeks, it surely would have made more sense to have the “F5: Fatal-5-Way” seen this past week on RAW this Sunday instead. It would have given the audience more investment in the character of Ambrose which has being superbly built up in the last few weeks.

Also, another interesting development will be how Brie Bella survives this coming Sunday, with her husband retired and sister injured. With her rumored impending retirement, it’ll be interesting to see how she fairs in her battle with Charlotte. Also, pay particular attention to this weeks edition of SmackDown when it is hopefully announced that AJ Styles will face off against Chris Jericho this Sunday, in the third match of their series. But given how little is actually assigned to the card, it begs to question why they are having the WWE United States Championship defended on the pre-show. Has the WWE lost interest in Kalisto as the champion already?

With the predictions on fire, and WrestleMania 32 just around the corner hopefully this Sunday it will become clear what direction they are aiming for. Given the recent issues with WWE attendance, it is highly likely that everything will be thrown into their TV tapings in the coming which so don’t be surprised if we see The Undertaker back shortly. It does nevertheless remain a disappointment that capable and available champion, Triple H isn’t defending his championship to make his reign more credible but that is another matter.

It does remain a significant concern that only five matches have being announced, because it doesn’t allow you to become invested in the show or care about what is happening. The go-home pay-per-view for WrestleMania shouldn’t be forgettable, but sadly it is shaping up to be that!
