This Sunday is the final stop before WrestleMania 32; WWE will host Fastlane taking place from The Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. With the main event of Wrestlemania up for grabs, the rest of the match card is hotting up. This past week, two huge title matches were announced, today we take a look and preview both of these matches.
Intercontinental Championship Match
Kevin Owens (C) vs Dolph Ziggler
Given Dean Ambrose’s role in the main event picture, Kevin Owens regaining the Intercontinental Championship of Raw this past week is a smart move. The Prizefighter captured his second Intercontinental championship reign by pinning the Lunatic Fringe. His first title defence will take place this coming Sunday as Kevin Owens will defend his title against Dolph Ziggler.
For weeks Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler have been getting physical trading victories from one another. With the Intercontinental championship now on the line, I can only see Kevin Owens retaining the championship. With their battles of recent weeks this will be very good match. However just like the US title, the booking is simply based on competitiveness rather than anything else. Whilst this style can work, mixing the feud logic would have been better.
Prediction: Kevin Owens
United States Championship – 2 out of 3 Fall Match
Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto (C)
I have really enjoyed the competitive feud between Alberto Del Rio and Kalisto; with both men trading the United States championship over the past month. With Kalisto regaining the title which he won a week earlier at the Royal Rumble; he will defend the championship against Del Rio in a 2 out of 3 fall match. The only gripe for me is that it is on the pre-show which to me seems as a waste. No doubt it will be a fantastic match that Kalisto should come out as the victor before moving the next chapter in his career.
