Royal Rumble 2016 Update!

As we seen this past week on RAW, the Road to the Royal Rumble 2016 was made ever so slightly more interesting with the announcement by Vince McMahon that Roman Reigns will be defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Royal Rumble match against 29 other competitors. Whilst this isn’t the first time the title has being up for grabs in the Rumble match (see 1992), this will be the first time a champion has defended the title in the Rumble match.

For me, this is a clear directive of the McMahon’s attempting to stake the odds against Reigns. As an early prediction I can see Reigns winning the Rumble and retaining. This will continue his feud with the McMahon’s in the build up to WrestleMania 32 culminating in a Reigns versus Triple H contest. It’s very days but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Chris Jericho is back

Also, on RAW this week we seen the return of Chris Jericho for the first time since Night of Champions in September and ultimately declared himself a participant in the Royal Rumble but what about the friction between him and Dean Ambrose from Night Of Champions surely this will be addressed in coming weeks.

Royal Rumble Entries

After The Big Show and Curtis Axel were announced as the first two participants in the Royal Rumble, more were confirmed on RAW: Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, Ryback and Dolph Ziggler were announced in addition to the four confirmed in the past week bringing the number of confirmed competitors to 11 thus far. With SmackDown’s return to USA Network only a couple of days away more could possibly be announced then perhaps?
