Wrestling legend Kurt Angle announced towards the end of last year, that TNA’s upcoming tour of the United Kingdom will be his last tour as he begins to unwinds into retirement from professional wrestling. Over the past few day’s TNA President Dixie Carter has revealed his final three opponents on social media site Twitter for Kurt Angle Farewell Tour.
On January 29th, Kurt Angle will face Scotland’s Drew Galloway in Manchester. The two have teamed and faced off in the past couple weeks of TNA Impact Wrestling on POP! TV. Drew has certainly been given the chance to shine in TNA and the match against Kurt will be fantastic.
On London’s leg of the tour Kurt Angle will face off against long-term rival Bobby Roode on January 30th at the SECC Arena (the same venue for NXT Takeover:London).
Kurt’s final opponent will be the man he beat in London last year for the TNA World Heavyweight title, Bobby Lashley. During last years taping of the 2015 Maximum Impact Tour, Kurt challenged Lashley for the title, in a clinic of a match that Dave Meltzer rated at 4.25 (TNA’s best match of 2015) to capture his final TNA World Heavyweight title. As a fan who attended the London tapings, to witness the rematch and what could very be Kurt’s final wrestling match will be incredible. The match will take place in the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, UK.
Whilst many WWE fan’s believe that Kurt deserves one more run in WWE; a deal as never finalised between the two parties. Yes this a shame, however since joining TNA in 2006, Kurt has grown incredibly as a performer having some even better matches seen in WWE. His rivalry with Samoa Joe is one of TNA’s hottest feuds. Kurt is one of the greatest technical wrestlers seen in the modern era of the sport. Three high-profile matches in TNA is the perfect send off to an incredible career.
