Daniel Bryan Injury
Daniel’s frustration stem back from May 2014. Months after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 30 Daniel was forced to surrender his championship following neck surgery. The Goat Faced wonder made his return on the first episode of Smackdown in 2015, eventually winning the Intercontinental championship at Wrestlemania 31. Weeks later, Daniel was sent home early from the UK April tour due to a concussion. Ever since then Daniel has been “fighting” with doctors to clear him to wrestle again.
Speaking with IGN back in October, Daniel confirmed that WWE are sceptical in allowing him to return due to his concussion, “I had a concussion in April, and obviously they’re very hyper-sensitive about concussion stuff right now.” A neurologist who specialises in concussions clear Daniel to compete with no major concerns. However WWE’s medical doctor has refused to allow Daniel to wrestle anytime soon, mainly due to Daniel’s history with concussions. Within the interview Daniel suggested that WWE were going to send a third concussion specialist doctor to assess him.
Moving forward to 2016 and Daniel has still yet to be clear to compete in the ring. Now really is the time to bring back Daniel; WWE has far too many stars on the injury list right now. Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Sting, Randy Orton all main players are all on the inactive list. Last night John Cena confirmed that he is also injured and expected to be out of action for up to 6 months following surgery. If they only reason Daniel Bryan is not yet cleared is the fear of another concussion then WWE should let him wrestling under a waiver.
More to the point; Daniel’s true frustration is mainly due to the potential 5 star matches that can happen in 2016. Imagine Daniel Bryan vs Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura. No wonder Daniel is more eager than ever to get back in the ring.
Bryan brings so much to WWE; for him to end his career short when several non-WWE doctors have cleared him to compete will be extremely sad. Especially when WWE needs to freshen its roster up so badly. Daniel is the key to help propel WWE in the short term, let’s hope it is sooner rather than later.
