WWE Preview: Royal Rumble 2016 Lineup

Royal Rumble 2016 Poster

The Road to WrestleMania 32 is well and truly about to begin, and it all begins with the Royal Rumble 2016. Just the other day, Lucas bought you the match preview for the Last Man Standing match. Now, I shall be bringing you the preview for the other contests on the show. Looking at it from an initial card from a glance, it is a very mixed bag but I have a sneaky suspicion that we may be pleasantly surprised. So here I go with the preview for…

Royal Rumble 2016 Lineup

WWE United States Championship: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Kalisto

Since John Cena was injured at the beginning of the year, this quickly left his feud with Del Rio in disarray. But this has quickly be counteracted with a surprise feud for Del Rio in the form of Kalisto. Kalisto has long being a part of The Lucha Dragons with Sin Cara. But, with Sin Cara injured this is another example of what could be last minute desperation booking. They have recently traded the championship between them on RAW and SmackDown which has made fans take note of Kalisto. Now is his time to seize the opportunity and go for it. These two have the potential to have an incredible match, as long as they are given sufficient time to let the match develop and a story to be told. This match could be a hidden gem in the card, and is another one I am interested to see how it plays out.

WWE Tag Team Championship: The New Day (c) vs. The Usos

After The Usos successfully gained a victory on The New Day a few weeks ago on RAW, they have since being granted a championship match at the Royal Rumble. This is something I am not sure about, because it seems another case of last minute booking. But, we’ve seen it many times before so what does it have to offer us. The New Day are brilliant, they have taken what could have being a flop gimmick into something relevant and hilarious. But, what can yet another match with The Usos achieve and how can they make it different and worthwhile for the 2016 audience. It’ll be a good match, I have no doubts about that but whether it will have a lasting impact and be remembered. I seriously doubt it. Something needs to happen to make it stand out, but it is going to be one of those on the spot moments to capture peoples attention.
