WWE List: 10 Awesome Entrance Songs You Forgot – 2000 to 2005

Whilst at the gym today, my iPod was on shuffle, hearing Daniel Bryan‘s theme song managed to motivate me to run full speed for a whole 2 minutes 17 seconds. Whilst on shuffle, Seether’s “Out Of My Way” played and for those you may not remember, back in 2003 WWE had a one legged wrestler called Zack Gowen on Smackdown. His theme song was Seether’s “Out Of My Way”, whilst on the treadmill this got me thinking, what other awesome theme songs are there which most people will have forgotten about?

The Dudley Boyz – “Bombshell” by Powerman 500

As was the in thing to do in 2002 most wrestlers had heavy rock music as their entrance theme. Before their split at the first WWE draft the Dudley Boyz had Saliva’s “Get The Tables”, which no offence to Saliva who are a great band, that song wasn’t any good. After the failed singles run of the Dudley Boyz, they reunited in November 2002 with a cracking new theme song “Bombshell” by Powerman 500. Based similarly on their original song the song had so much energy how could you not be excited for the arrival of the Dudley Boyz?

Gregory Helms “Fire Storm”

The superhero was gone, a bad ass Gregory Helms was born and his first song “Fire Storm” replicated Helms new found persona and fitted the bill perfectly. Yes it “generic” with no lyrics but who needs music when the instruments tell the story.

Raven “What About Me?” and “End Of Everything” by Stereomud

Theme songs add so much to a wrestlers persona and each of Ravens theme songs displayed Ravern perfectly. His second theme song was released on WWF Volume 5, had a similar aura that Gangrel’s theme had, Jim Johnston can be very proud of producing a fantastic song utilising the sounds of Raven’s perfectly. For the WWF Forceable Entry CD release in 2002, the band Stereomud produced the song “End Of Everything” to compliment Raven. The grungey feel to the song added to Raven’s character and brought some nostalgia to ECW theme songs.

Sean O’Haire – “Come On” by Waterproof Blonde

Remember Sean O’Haire? The guy who got a big push only to be overshadowed by Roddy Piper and fall from grace? Well his theme song “Come On” by Waterproof Blonde was pure brilliant. An almost perfect wrestling entrance song, great introduction, sounds and vocals so come on “I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know”.

Shelton Benjamin – Desperate Times

Poor Shelton Benjamin has had more theme songs than John Cena has held world titles. For whatever reason WWE could never settle on a song for Shelton, this was Benjamin’s first song titled Desperate Times. This is my favourite Shelton song, it had great lyrics and a unique sound. Same WWE ditched the song pretty soon after it was first used.

Spanky “Hey You”

Brian Kendrick’s initial run with WWE in 2003 was a semi successful one, one thing that came out of his run was a very catchy and fun theme song.

Undertaker – “Your Gonna Pay”

When you think of an Undertaker theme song, you immediately think of the gongs or his American Bad Ass themes by Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit. One which you will almost forget was his “Your Gonna Pay” song which he used from 2002 to 2003 before he returned to the deadman gimmick. The song originated as an instrumental before lyrics were added. The beat and the lyrics worked well with the Undertaker character at the time.

Zack Gowen – “Out Of My Way” by Seether

“Nobody is gonna stand in my way, give it up son I am doing it my way”. As a single legged wrestler Zack had the odds stacked up against achieving his dream, in 2003 Zack made that dream a reality and made it to the main roster. His theme song personified his struggles and overcoming them.

3 Minute Warning –  “3 Minutes” by 2 Skinnee J

In an era where metal entrance songs were key, 3 Minute Warning (Rosey and the future Umaga) had the fantastic rap song “3 Minutes” by 2 Skinnee J, a very catchy and likeable song.
